Spray Tan Before & After Care Advice

 

Whether it's your first time, or you're a tanning queen looking for extra tips, I've got you covered for tanning advice, to get you the best results possible!

Before

  • Timing your appointment 1-2 days before a specific event is a great idea, this way you will hit your tans "sweet spot" 
  • Hair removal should be completed 24-48 hrs prior to your appointment
  • In the build up to your appointment, exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! This will help prepare your skin to become the canvas for your tan
  • In the days before your appointment, moisturise moisturise, moisturise. Pay attention to drier areas like the elbows, knees and ankles, hands etc that are prone to catch more tan. Avoid Dove and Aveeno brands
  • Avoid showering within 4 hrs prior of your tan appointment
  • Avoid brow tinting 48hrs prior to tan (colour can react with tan)

On the day

  • Remove jewellery
  • NO moisturiser, body oils, deodorant, perfumes or makeup
  • Bring anything you would like to wear during tan (bikini etc), otherwise a disposable G-string will be provided if you prefer not to be naked
  • A hair tie for longer hair is helpful, but a hair net will be provided
  • Bring appropriate clothing to leave your appointment in (loose & dark, flip flops etc. No tight jeans or boots please)
  • Park close and consider an umbrella if it is raining on the day!

Aftercare

  • Do not touch your tan with palms/fingers.  Avoid crossing legs etc
  • Avoid getting wet or sweating/rubbing for the next couple of hours
  • Your tan will develop over the next couple of hours, don't panic if it appears too dark, the initial guide colour will wash away with the first shower
  • Leave tan to develop for 2 hrs, or up to 6 hrs for a darker colour
  • Do not use any soaps with your first shower, rinse only. Pat dry.
  • Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. The more you keep your tan hydrated, the longer it will last and more evenly fade
  • Consider using a gradual tan or tan extender to get more from your tan

 

Bridal & Special Occasion Tans

A test run before a wedding or special occasion is a great idea. This involves trying out your tan at least a few weeks before the actual event. Its a great chance to time your tan with any hair or makeup trials to get an idea of the overall look.
